Dr Renee Hewitt

Renee Hewitt is a Senior Clinical Neuropsychologist and Clinical Psychologist with master’s degree qualifications in both areas of practice. Her research background includes a PhD from the University of Melbourne obtained in 2012 exploring emotional and neurodevelopment in vulnerable adolescents.

With over 10 years of experience as a Clinical Neuropsychologist in both public and private health settings, Renee has worked with clients across all age groups. In her current role as Neuropsychology Educator at Alfred Health, she actively contributes to the training and development of fellow professionals in the field.

Renee’s professional interests include supporting children and families in navigating the complexities of developmental, cognitive, and emotional challenges. She conducts neurodevelopmental assessments for children presenting with acquired brain injuries, developmental delays, learning difficulties, ADHD, and autism spectrum disorders. Additionally, Renee provides clinical psychology support for children, adolescents, and young people experiencing depression, anxiety, and emotional or behavioral challenges related to neurodevelopmental conditions.

Renee’s work with adults includes neuropsychological assessment and therapy for individuals dealing with neurological conditions such as acquired brain injuries, neurodegenerative diseases, and cognitive disorders. She takes a strength-based approach to help clients understand and manage the impact of these conditions on daily functioning, emotional wellbeing, and cognitive performance.

In addition, Renee provides therapeutic support for adults presenting with a wide range of mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, stress, and relationship difficulties. She employs evidence-based therapeutic modalities such as cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and adapts her approach to meet the unique needs of each individual.

A strong advocate for her clients, Renee adopts a practical and collaborative style in both assessment and therapy. She is known for her warm, flexible, and client-centered approach to clinical work, fostering resilience and promoting emotional wellbeing.
